Drum Cafe really brings the group together, and everyone participates enthusiastically.
Our goal for the entire introduction week for first-year students is to meet new people. Patrick and his team succeeded very well!
Randomly handing out different colored Boomwhackers and sorting participants by color halfway through the session worked very well to playfully connect with other first-year students.
At first, you form a new group with “strangers,” but by making music and laughing together, the ice is quickly broken.
Repeating this several times during the session with different team members through a high five, box, or handshake also helped to forge new connections. Everyone participated enthusiastically and had fun together.
The session was facilitated in several languages, including German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, and of course, English, which was not only hilarious but also very beneficial for our international students from 80 different countries, who contribute to our multicultural learning environment. BUas focuses on international students and encourages international experience through partnerships with universities worldwide and internship and exchange opportunities.
Even though the languages and rituals may be different, making music together (listening to each other) and laughing together breaks down all barriers and brings all cultures together. Well done, gracias!
